The Greatest Investment: Yourself

Who is the person you spend the most time with? Take a second to think about your answer to this question. Maybe it’s a parent, friend, significant other, or a pet. Now think again, who do you truly spend the most time with? The answer to that is: yourself! That’s why it is critical to take care of yourself and to learn and grow as  a person everyday. Your habits and actions have a powerful effect on your well-being and happiness.

If you want to invest in something with minimum risk, and a guaranteed big return, invest in yourself.

Why is it that people invest in things anyway? We invest in the stock market and put our money into stocks in hopes of gaining a greater return. Same thing goes for ourselves. When we put the time and effort to better ourselves as individuals, we ultimately receive gratifying results. So, here are a few ways for you to start investing in yourself:

1. Get off technology

Parties and get together’s aren’t always meant to be snap chatted and recorded. Indulge in the moment, and be present with the real world. Go for a walk, or spend time with family and friends without having to check your phone every time it vibrates. Listen to others, be mindful, and practice what it’s like to be fully present. Put aside all your worries about the future, and all your thoughts about the past, and experience life as it is now.

2. Learn something

We’re human. We aren’t programmed to know everything. Learn something new, find a new hobby, explore your passions. People spend too much time letting their days pass them by, waiting for the weekend, or waiting for something exciting to stumble in their paths. But YOU are the energy. YOU are the spark. Take on something new everyday and expand your mind. Overcome boredom, cultivate great conversation and positively impact the life of another human being.

3. Surround yourself with people who inspire you

When you surround yourself with toxic people, you aren’t allowing yourself to grow. There’s nothing worse than allowing the presence of others belittle you, or make you feel as if you aren’t worthy. Do yourself the favor, and surround yourself with people who bring out the best version of who you are. The people who motivate you, encourage you, and will be there at the end of every finish line. Invest in yourself, by choosing the right people to help you do it.

4. Choose to love yourself

Remember, always, that your greatest investment is in yourself. Choose to love yourself. I know it doesn’t always come easily. Love yourself because it isn’t up to others to love you. Choose you, because it gives you the strength and courage to try new things and to go after your dreams, because you have insurance – you know that no matter what the outcome, you love yourself deeply.

Invest in yourself. Trust me, you can afford it.

Ignite your spark,

Thanks for reading, xoxo.

I will definitely be adding some of these to my list. I really want to learn something new 💗

This is an amazing reminder who #1 should be. It’s so easy to invest all our energy in other people or other things – we should be using most of that energy to be our best self (whatever that looks like – with no pressure 😉 ). I especially love the suggestion to put down the technology. So many of my friends spend all their time behind their cameras – I just want to be in the moment, enjoying it. And never once have I thought – I wish I took more pictures! Take Care (of yourself) 🙂

Loving yourself is such an important thing because everything starts with you and with the way you feel about yourself.

hiiii 🙂 i love how short but informative your pos is!

Getting off technology is something im proud to say i have been succeeding at. it took a life changing event to make me really appreciate life and all it had to offer! the rest are still works in progress lol.

I confess I am a technology addict. It’s a good reminder to get off technology and actually interact with people face to face

Love the concept! I agree! We spend the most time with ourselves, so enriching our own self through experience is optimal. It will not only enhance our life, but the lives of everyone we come in contact with.

super tips and post

It can be easy to forget about taking care of ourselves as we go about our day to day routines. I find that taking a break from the cell phone goes a long way to free up time to do something that I love, like reading or writing, a walk or my yoga with no distractions!

Definitely working on learning something new daily and surrounding myself with like minded people!

Investing in oneself should be the very first investment!
